Valeo Electrification

Vehicle Electrification :

As the world is moving towards Electrification and Valeo is also in the race to be the pioneer in Electrification. Valeo got 18B€ order intake in E-Mobility and will be #1 Electrification Provider.
This Article will give you a brief on Valeo range of products and what more can be offered in the future.

Please do Watch the below Video on Electrification Evolution in Valeo

Brief History :

Introduced more than 100 years ago, electric cars are seeing a rise in popularity today for many of the same reasons they were first popular.

Whether it’s a hybrid, plug-in hybrid or all-electric, the demand for electric drive vehicles will continue to climb as prices drop and consumers look for ways to save money at the pump. Currently more than 3 percent of new vehicle sales, electric vehicles sales could grow to nearly 7 percent -- or 6.6 million per year -- worldwide by 2020.

The Birth of the Electric Vehicle :

It is hard to pinpoint the invention of the electric car to one inventor or country. Instead, it was a series of breakthroughs -- from the battery to the electric motor -- in the 1800s that led to the first electric vehicle on the road.

In the early part of the century, innovators in Hungary, the Netherlands and the United States -- including a blacksmith from Vermont -- began toying with the concept of a battery-powered vehicle and created some of the first small-scale electric cars. And while Robert Anderson, a British inventor, developed the first crude electric carriage around this same time, it wasn’t until the second half of the 19th century that French and English inventors built some of the first practical electric cars.

Then in the U.S., the first successful electric car made its debut around 1890 thanks to William Morrison, a chemist who lived in Des Moines, Iowa. His six-passenger vehicle capable of a top speed of 14 miles per hour was little more than an electrified wagon, but it helped spark interest in electric vehicles.

Over the next few years, electric vehicles from different automakers began popping up across the Globe. By 1900, electric cars were at their heyday, accounting for around a third of all vehicles on the road. During the next 10 years, they continued to show strong sales.

Valeo the World Leader in Vehicle Electrification :

With a wide range of technologies and products, Valeo is the global leader in Vehicle Electrification. Valeo covers all the technologies which run in an electric car such as  Start-Stop, Semi-Hybrid, Inverter Technology,48V technology.

One Third of the cars sold in World wide is equipped with Valeo Electric Machine :

As it is the need of the day, Valeo is pioneer in Electrification, and one of the largest providers of Electrical motors, Many OEMs are associated with Valeo and right now in the World 1 in every 3 cars is equipped with Valeo Electric Motor. Amount of power generated by these motors is equivalent to the entire production of FRANCE country per year.

The Cutest Car !!!

In 1942 Valeo Produced the Cutest Electric car of that time: Baby Rhone 2

By the time of the Second World War, the Lyon based Paris-Rhône company had been in business as a supplier of specialist electric components to the auto-industry for approximately twenty years, which made them particularly well placed to join the electric cars bandwagon that gathered pace after the German invasion of 1940 as petrol for civilian use became virtually unobtainable in France. Unlike many converts to the manufacture of electric cars, Paris-Rhône would have no problems producing their own electric motors in house.

In 2004 Valeo Introduced Start- Stop System :

In automobiles, a start-stop system or stop-start system automatically shuts down and restarts the internal combustion engine to reduce the amount of time the engine spends idling, thereby reducing fuel consumption and emissions. This is most advantageous for vehicles which spend significant amounts of time waiting at traffic lights or frequently come to a stop in traffic jams. Start-stop technology may become more common with more stringent government fuel economy and emissions regulations. This feature is present in hybrid electric vehicles, but has also appeared in vehicles which lack a hybrid electric powertrain. For non-electric vehicles fuel economy gains from this technology are typically in the range of 3-10 percent, potentially as high as 12 percent.

In 2010, Valeo Demonstrated 48V Mild Hybrid :

Mild hybrids (also known as power-assist hybrids, battery-assisted hybrid vehicles or BAHVs) are generally cars with an internal combustion engine equipped with an electric machine (one motor/generator in a parallel hybrid configuration) allowing the engine to be turned off whenever the car is coasting, braking, or stopped, yet restart quickly. Mild hybrids may employ regenerative braking and some level of power assist to the internal combustion engine (ICE), but mild hybrids do not have an electric-only mode of propulsion.

Valeo Introduces Electrical Motor which can produce the power that is equal to V12 Engine :

Electric cars function by plugging into a charge point and taking electricity from the grid. They store the electricity in rechargeable batteries that power an electric motor, which turns the wheels. Electric cars accelerate faster than vehicles with traditional fuel engines – so they feel lighter to drive.

Valeo has one the Most powerful electric motors which can deliver the power which is equivalent to a V12 Internal combustion engine.

Valeo Propulsion Software:

Married to Electrical Motor is the Valeo Inverter which has Propulsion Software which can make the car take off just like F-22 Raptor!!!.

With more than 1 million lines of coding this along with the inverter and the High powerful Motors it becomes the most powerful and best performing Motor in the market.

Valeo-Siemens eMotor :

All new Valeo Siemens eMotor is one of the fastest running motors in the market. The Motors runs at the speed of 20000 RPM, which is equivalent to a F1 Car Engine.

48V Applications :

The use of 48V is many and Valeo also develops vehicles with 48V systems.
