    Launch of Evaporator

VALEO THERMAL LAUNCHES 4 NEW EVAPORATOR REFERENCE EXTENDING THE RANGE. Valeo, The Thermal Systems Specialist continuously expands its product coverage with the launch of over 4 Evaporator references boosting the range and featuring an exact fit and optimized cooling efficiency. Valeo range has been built to give to the market an exact fit and optimized cooling efficiency range that respects stringent in-house requirement. Valeo is the global Thermal system specialist with more than 60 years of experience in O.E. This provides Valeo Evaporator range legitimacy on the Aftermarket.

    Evaporator working Principle

An air Conditioner's coil also called the evaporator core is the part of the system where the refrigerant absorbs heat. As the air conditioner runs the compressor pulls cold low-pressure liquid refrigerant through

the tubing in the evaporator coil.

The Evaporator works the opposite of the condenser here refrigerant liquid is converted to gas absorbing heat from the air in the compartment. This causes the refrigerant to absorb heat from the warm air and reach it's low boiling points rapidly. The refrigerant then vaporizes absorbing the maximum amount of heat.

    Usual defects in Evaporator

As you can see the compressor's is integral to the operation of the AC.  Therefore a malfunctioning AC will lead to cooling problems. Below are some common problems that afflict AC evaporators.

    Dirty Coils

Debris accumulated over the evaporator coils prevents the transfer of heat from the warm air to the refrigerant. The accumulated debris acts as an insulation material that prevents heat exchange.

This means that your AC will be blowing warms instead of cool air.

    Frozen Coils

ice accumulated over the evaporator coils reduces the volume of the air flowing over the coils. The ice

also absorbs some of the heat instead of the heat getting absorbed into the refrigerant. This also reduces

the cooling capacity of the AC.

    Coil Damage

Damage to the coil reduces the surface area of the cooling of the evaporator. Coil damage can also lead

to a refrigerant leak and the evaporator needs the refrigerant to cool the car.

    Signs to look out for

You need to be on the lookout for evaporator malfunctions. Below are some of the signs to look out for:

    • Impaired Cooling
    • Ice and frost over the evaporator coil
    • Signs of physical damage to the AC coils
    • Long AC runtime
    • Water leak near the evaporator
